These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Chromatica mobile application (the "App"), developed and operated by Arcanum Labs ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Chromatica, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the App.

1.1 Age Restrictions

You must be at least 13 years old to use Chromatica. If you are between 13 and 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the App.

2. License and Usage

2.1 License Grant

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Download and install the App on devices you own or control
  • Access and use the App's features for personal, non-commercial purposes

2.2 License Restrictions

You agree NOT to:

  • Copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the App
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to discover the source code
  • Rent, lease, sell, sublicense, distribute, or transfer the App to third parties
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use the App for any illegal, harmful, or unauthorized purposes
  • Circumvent or disable any security features or usage restrictions
  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App or its third-party services
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or other means to interact with the App in an unauthorized manner

3. Game Features

3.1 Gameplay

Chromatica is a color-based logic deduction puzzle game. The App generates puzzles procedurally and tracks your progress locally. Key game mechanics include:

  • Puzzle grids of colored tiles with hidden numbers — deduce the correct arrangement through logic
  • Tier-based progression from Tier 0 (tutorial) to Tier 6 (expert)
  • Procedurally generated puzzles — no two games are identical
  • Hint system that reveals logical steps progressively
  • Accessibility features including colourblind mode, reduced animations, and haptic feedback

3.2 Puzzles and Fair Play

  • All puzzles are solvable through pure logic — no guessing required
  • Using external solvers, bots, or automation to solve puzzles is prohibited
  • Game progress is stored locally and can be reset at any time

4. Advertisements

4.1 Ad-Supported Free Version

The App is supported by advertisements provided by Google AdMob. By using the App, you agree to:

  • View interstitial advertisements between puzzles
  • Allow Google AdMob to collect data as described in our Privacy Policy

Ads only appear between puzzles — never during active gameplay.

4.2 GDPR Consent

Chromatica serves only non-personalized advertisements by default. In the European Economic Area (including France), you can choose to enable personalized ads at any time via Settings → Data → Privacy Options, which uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage your consent.

5. Data and Privacy

5.1 Local Data

All puzzle state, game progress, and settings are stored locally on your device. You are responsible for backing up your data. We are not responsible for data loss due to device failure, app uninstallation, or other causes.

5.2 Analytics and Crash Reporting

The App uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics as described in our Privacy Policy. You can disable analytics collection in Settings → Data & Privacy.

Chromatica integrates third-party services that are subject to their own terms:

We are not responsible for the practices or content of these third-party services.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 Ownership

The App, including its design, code, graphics, audio, and content, is owned by Arcanum Labs and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS-IS" AND "AS-AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not guarantee that:

  • The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • All puzzles will be solvable (though they are designed to be)
  • The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions
  • Any defects will be corrected in a timely manner

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ARCANUM LABS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US, OR $50 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Arcanum Labs from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the App or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

11.1 By You

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

11.2 By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

11.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your license to use the App is revoked. All local data will remain on your device until you uninstall the App.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Arcanum Labs operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
